John & Jacque's Story
John Coulombe grew up in Oregon as a ‘preacher’s kid,’ attending Judson Baptist College, Biola University and Talbot Theological Seminary. For 53 years John pastored and ministered to youth and families at Bethany Baptist, Long Beach and Calvary Baptist, Santa Barbara, and lastly as senior adult/inter-gen pastor at Evangelical Free Church, Fullerton, CA. His passion is improving the integration among the generations, ending the segregation and isolation so common in many churches today with specialized ministries and “experienced adults.”
Over the years, Coulombe helped envision and establish Travel Camping (educational and transformational travel) with both the young and the ‘older,’ Ecclesia (a fellowship community of youth pastors’ in Santa Barbara), CASA (Christian Assoc. of Senior Adults), Desert Fathers and Music-City Fathers Retreats, providing encouragement and support for pastors, leaders, musicians and their friends.
John is one of the founding members of Legacy Coalition and serves in a pastoral role as a spiritual director, focused on intentional Christian grandparenting. He also serves with FishBowl Ministries offering hope, encouragement and friendship to pastors and their families, who often struggle under the watchful eyes of critical parishioners, leaders and board members.
He and his childhood sweet-heart Jacque, celebrated 56 years of marriage, have two sons and daughters-in-love and are intentional in seeking to pass their faith and hope on to their 8 grandkids. John likes deep friendship, hanging out with Jacque and his family, robust coffee, playing his guitar, trombone and a little golf.
